Meaningful Individual Development
A Meritocracy is only viable when opportunity is equitable. Pedal Pedal Pedal proposes that we focus on building equitable pathways to competency through our Bike Games & Pedal(gogical) Programs.
Our programming will emphasize collaborative and cooperative games and activities that embrace individual differences and bridge economic ones through empathetic leadership and instruction, creating safe places for personalities, physiology, neural-divergence and multiple-intelligences to flourish and find a role within the cohort.
We ask, is a common thread missing among culture today? If it is present, does it connect us or divide us? Our intention is for bicycles to become the common thread among all participants, their common denominator. Perhaps like in 19th century agriculture, where the planting and harvest was the bonding activity of a community, in the 21st Century, with urbanization and technology, bicycling can become the new connecting activity that demands attention.
We will build in a process of visualization and participation while exploring program subjects, so individuals may discover and exercise their gift intelligence for the benefit of the group while taking on problems and challenges together.
Our programs will continue to support youth as they develop and reach each new stage of personal growth. We are creating a comprehensive program of youth development centered on the bicycle and mobility, woven throughout their education experience, that embraces cooperation, community, leadership and agency at every beat, with clear age-appropriate-curiosity-driven subjects to explore with meaningful social engagement.

ATHLETIC DEVELOPMENT & CYCLING

It is our intent to grow the activity of cycling by creating safe and engaging pathways for all, but also, for U17, U19 and U23 riders to develop competitively across North America and in Europe on their way to individual success.
We realize this is not simple, since populating any program - raising the interest in teenagers AND parents, keeping talented riders in the sport, attracting crossover athletes and finding safe routes to ride and train - can challenge ANY club to fill a team roster!
Inspired by the Athletic Development Model developed by Kristen Dieffenbach, Ph.D., CMC. AASP Fellow at West Virginia University and Director at the United States Center for Coaching Excellence, we’ve elected to develop a program that utilizes cycling, and the confidence it builds, to accompany children throughout their learning experiences. Kristen has spent years of research across sports developing the science behind this model.
Key Principles
The Athletic Development Model suggests that quality sport experiences should incorporate five key principles to help keep more Americans engaged in sport:
-
Universal access to create opportunity for all athletes
-
Developmentally appropriate activities that emphasize motor and foundational skills
-
Multi-sport Participation
-
Fun, engaging and progressively challenging atmosphere
-
Quality coaching at all age levelsKey Outcomes
By creating early positive experiences for all athletes, the Athletic Development Model will help keep more children engaged in sport longer with four clear outcomes:
-
Grow both the general athlete population and the pool of elite athletes from which future US Olympians and Paralympians are selected.
-
Develop fundamental skills that transfer between sports
-
Provide an appropriate avenue to fulfill an individuals athletic potential
-
Create a generation that loves sport and physical activity, and, transfers that passion to the next generation and so on...
